Away at Asbury

So. I moved my sweet husband into a dorm room last night in the middle of nowhere Wilmore, KY. Here's a peek at our first glimpse of his room:

It's arranged for two people, but he'll be the only one there. It's actually a nice set up -- he'll be there Tuesdays through Fridays during the semester, but no one will be in his room when he's gone. Also, his room is locked between semesters, so he can leave everything there while he's away.

He hasn't been there a full 24 hours yet, but it's already been really strange to be apart. We're both independent people, so I don't think either of us expected how weird the transition would be. We talked on gmail chat all night last night {well, until I went to bed... at 11 p.m! whoa!}. I didn't sleep well in our quiet, empty apartment. I have a lot of respect for military families who go months, even years, apart. Especially families with kids! I can't even imagine.

But it's just Tuesday through Friday; we'll be fine. We'll both settle into a routine, and we'll enjoy and appreciate our weekends together. I will pick him up at 5:30 p.m. on Fridays at the downtown greyhound station, and we're already plotting where to go to dinner to celebration our reunion this week. :)

2.5 years of coursework, a semester to study for comprehensive exams, and another ? years of dissertation writing... oh, PhD studies. I must confess: I'm glad there are no more degrees to be pursued after this one!

Hang in there, bestie! I know you know it will get better, but the getting there can be tough. Take care, and call me anytime! Love you!
