Like I Was That Good

Sunday, December 7, 2008

There were two things about Mama. One is she always expected the best out of me. And the other is that then no matter what I did, whatever I came home with, she acted like it was the moon I had just hung up in the sky and plugged in all the stars. Like I was that good.

by Barbara Kingsolver

When I read that passage I immediately thought of my mom and my grandparents.* The three of them have been the biggest cheerleaders in my life. No matter what I've done, they have always supported me, always believed in me, and always loved me so well. There's no way for me to convey just how thankful I am for them.

*Unfortunately, I don't have any digital pictures of my grandfather. He passed away in 2004. He was my biggest fan; I am so thankful for the time I had with him growing up and the wonderful memories I have of him. I couldn't have asked for a better "grampie."

I just never cease to be amazed at how young your grandmother's face remains! She's a great lady.
