I'm not the kind of person who makes new year's resolutions, per se, but here are some thoughts that have been drifting through my mind as I ponder a new year. In 2010, I'd like to:
-Blog more consistently. I love when there are new blogs to read in my Google Reader, so assuming even a few people enjoy my blog, I should follow suite. Plus, it's a fun creative outlet!
-Be more faithful in seeking God (specifically reading Scripture daily).
-Exercise consistently (3x a week at least) for both weight loss and better overall health. My ideal weight loss goal would be 20 pounds, but I hate to write weight-loss goal as a resolution because really -- who ever keeps a weight-loss resolution??
-Learn to sew. I just took a stack of sewing projects home to my MIL and she graciously hemmed and stitched on my behalf, but really. It can't be that hard. And it'd be a great skill to have for creative purposes, never mind necessities!
-Read more books.
*Currently reading: Taking Charge of Your Fertility.
Let me say a few words about my current book choice, as you might be wondering if I'm pregnant or trying to be: the answer is a resounding no (sorry, friends!). I'm reading this book because, as a woman, I'm amazed by what I don't know about my body. But insofar as fertility goes, I did quit taking the pill a year and a half ago, so natural birth control is a goal of ours. (If you're wondering, I stopped taking the pill because I was tired of pumping my body full of artificial hormones. I started taking it in high school to battle acne and just never went off because it made me amazingly regular -- so I was on it for almost ten years. That's a long time!)
*Next up: A Prayer for Owen Meany. I can't remember if I read this in high school or not, so here's to (re?)reading a classic!
-Have a certain amount of money in savings by our third anniversary (June 29). Oh, and speaking of money, here's something I did tonight:
I made new envelopes for our paycheck stubs. I know, a pretty dull thing to post about, right? But hear me out -- I actually made THREE envelopes!
Oh yes -- I am saving for an iPhone! I can upgrade in July, so happy birthday to ME. (Note: the actual phone will be $199, but I'm also saving $360 for the $30/extra a month that the data plan will add to our cell phone bill.) I can't wait.
-Meal plan every week. Let me just say that I hate meal planning, and I'm bad at it. The former probably stems from the latter. I need to change this! Life (and, more specifically, grocery shopping) is so much easier when meals are planned in advanced. One of my friends plans out meals for a month at a time (!). I have much to learn from her in many areas of life, but meal planning is definitely on the list.
So. Those are the things that have come to mind as I've been typing. Now it's 11 p.m. and I'm ready for bed. Just as I'm not the new-year's-resolutions type, I'm also not the stay-up-'til-midnight-and-ring-in-the-new-year type. Those of you who know me well aren't surprised.
Goodbye, 2009; it's been fun. Hello, 2010; I'm looking forward to getting to know you!

Taking Charge of Your Fertility + actually putting into practice what I learned from that book = Beautiful baby Callie :)
2 things: I kept a weight loss resolution. Also, taking charge of your fertility is an excellent book, whether you're trying to conceive or not. Good for you for getting to know your body better!
Mark and I are also saving for iphones. We are leaving crummy U.S. Cellular in the next few months in hopes of actually having cell phone service in normal zones (such as our home and work!). Yay for iphones! :-)
Good goals! I don't always like to meal plan, but I know that it saves us so much money....so, I do it.
Say something...
