Facelift

Friends, I hate to say it, but I'm getting tired of my blog. Aren't you? It's the same old boring layout every time. If you're going to have to look at something repeatedly, it might as well be easy on the eyes... right?

I've thought about going to Wordpress, because everyone always sings its praises, but I'm feeling faithful. Blogger has been good to me. So yesterday I decided I would teach myself to alter my blog's HTML code so I could spruce things up a bit around here. They advise that you don't alter HTML code on a live blog unless you know what you're doing, but what do they know? (And who are "they," anyway?) So if you drop by and things are severely out of whack, I apologize. Just take a short nap, come back and refresh the page. Hopefully I will have fixed it by then.

So far my successes are:

-Adding a patterned background behind my gray background
-Changing the two-column layout to a three-column layout
-Adding a favicon (that little heart that shows up in your web address bar... unless you're using IE. I'm not sure what the problem is there... yet!)
-Adding a heart icon by the "comments" section (although not an ideal one... still working on that, too)
-Updating my banner (it's not great, but it's ok for now)
-And my final success is the most exciting one (at least to me): altering the singular/plural code so that if I only have one comment, it says "1 comment" instead of "1 comments." How cool is that?

More changes to come. And then, when (if?) I have a really great looking blog, maybe I'll actually post updates to it!

Sound like a plan?

And here's another change -- if you click on the title of this post and scroll down, the comments I (the author) leave will be marked differently than the comments you (the readers) leave. I am on a roll! :)

You WOULD make the effort to change 1 comments to 1 comment. The world is a much more English-appropriate place because of you. :)

As someone who is currently fighting to learn how to write code, I applaud you! ESPECIALLY doing it live. Impressive!

:) Missed you on gchat today!
