...to cut Wes's hair.

I got my own hair cut today (at a salon, mind you - I would never let anyone unprofessional cut my hair, especially Wes!) and when I told the woman about my great idea (cutting Wes's hair), she laughed at me!

Whatever... I am totally capable.

Capable as I may be, though... I'm not very good at it yet. :) The first time I tried I was so scared that I barely took any off. So I asked my friend Jenny to come over and help. (She cuts her husband Michael's hair so well I always swear he must've gotten it cut professionally!) It went really well; I learned a lot, and Wes walked away with a little more confidence in me. (I'm not sure why... I really didn't do anything, but I think he's just glad I'm seeking council in this area.) Here are a few shots of Jenny at work:

Gotta love that last shot. :) I need to make a trip to Sally Beauty Supply tomorrow to buy a few guards that I don't have, along with some other necessities like thinning shears and a neck-shaver-thing (umm... I basically have no idea what those are called). I'll keep you posted on this learning process, although Wes and I both hope I don't end up with anything too exciting to share!

Oh - and in case you're wondering why I'm attempting such a thing, there are a few reasons. It will definitely save money as the years go by (and with the price of my haircuts, it would be nice to save money on his!), but it will also be really nice to not have a shaggy-headed husband: since Wes hates going to get his hair cut (spending money, waiting in line, etc.), he never does it - and I always end up slightly embarassed to be seen with him. Ok, I'm dramatic... but so is he when I ask him to go get his hair cut! If I can get this thing down to a quick science, he can walk beside me more often, instead of 10 steps ahead or behind. :) Just kidding!

Kind of....

um. i'm terrified to cut casey's hair, but also intrigued by the prospect of avoiding the long, drawn-out "okay, you REALLY neeed a haircut now," process.

i must befriend this jenny person, or you must become a hair-cutting expert...

Say something...
