This picture describes my husband's day-to-day life:
Do you SEE the huge bug in that picture? You can't expect me to kill it myself!)
Here are a few pictures from when my mom was in town (these aren't nearly as funny as her videos!):
We had a yummy dinner at BW3! (If you're interested in why it's BW3 and not BW2, click here and read the fourth sentence down. I'm sure I'm not the only person who's ever wondered that....)
Don't let that face fool you. He loves BW3. And me!
She is the reason I'm a Diet Coke addict (seriously).
Play nice, children.

In other news... I made dessert last night for our Community Group dinner. Don't you wish you would've come? (Thanks, girl Casey, for the use of your pretty pedestal bowl!)
Oh, and I'm trying to convince myself to cancel our cable. Please encourage me! We would save money, which is always a plus, but I also feel like we would be more well-rounded... we'd do more, talk more, read more, etc. Also, please note that when I say "we," I really mean me. Wes watches an occasional sports game, but I'm the one who sits down after dinner to an hour or two of HGTV or Jon and Kate Plus 8 (my new favorite) every night. It just helps me unwind. (You know, from my

Do you not remember when the BW3 had "Weck" in the name? I don't think it was that long ago.
I so enjoy your updates! Though ... no encouragement from me for no TV. I grew up without one, and am therefore forever stunted. I'm a TV advocate. (I have to admit, however, that I have watched more than my fair share this summer ... I'm planning on going cold turkey come fall. At least for a while.)
Hmmm... You asked for encouragement so I'll give some. I don't have cable at my apartment in Boston and it's really good for me!! I read before I go to sleep and spend less time watching old Law and Order episodes. On the other hand, I find that I replace it with other things - the internet, DVD's, or even just watching whatever terrible thing is on the few channels that I do get (including infomercials if I'm really bored). I spend so much time studying and reading for school that sometimes I just really want to turn my brain off and zone out - that doesn't change with the lack of cable.
Also, I LOVE Jon and Kate Plus 8 and wish desperately that I got TLC. It's a toss-up, but I think it's important to remember that there is nothing necessarily wrong with indulging (a LITTLE bit) in something that makes you happy. If you need to veg out a little bit after work, and you can afford it, maybe it's not bad to let yourself have that little luxury.
Maybe you can make some kind of a deal with yourself about the number of hours of tv you watch a day (1 hour?), or even better, match it with something productive. I do this with coffee - every cup of coffee I drink must be matched by a nalgene of water and 15 minutes on the treadmill. It sounds a little insane, but it makes me feel better about my indulgences!!
I'm SO glad for that information about BW3!!!!
AND
I LOVE Jon and Kate + 8
however,
I went a year without cable, and it really wasn't bad at all, but I also was NEVER at home, so I didn't really notice it.
I agree with Legaleagle, so my actual response is, "what she said."
:D
MISS YOU!
I totally see the bug! My husband did not - "at that resolution!"
allow me to encourage you in what i will call your "no-cable crusade." the few periods in my life when i've been without cable have, in hindsight, been incredibly constructive. i read all the time and spent far less time online. i didn't even miss it. my sister and i recently got cable (at my mother's insistence), and i have yet to finish a single book. i am very much in favor of having no cable. in the long run, it's one of the best decisions to make, i believe.
oh, and i like it when you update your blog. :)
love you.
leave the cable behind and join the club! haha! whenever you get totally bored or are really missing you favorite episode of ____ (you fill in the blank) you can call me and we'll go out for coffee, go shopping (which may defeat the purpose of going without cable), or go to the gym!
sound good?
ok! glad you're with me!
haha!
I have not opinion about TV or not.. I understand reasons for or against. I think you should just do what you think is best. As with anything, the important thing is balance.
The reason for my comment is that I wonder whether Jon & Kate plus 8 is going to motivate you guys to have children? Hehehehehe... Or perhaps it will just add weight to your current thoughts on kids... :)
I love that show... as well as HGTV.
Beth,
You really should lose the TV. I agree with Casey, you should join the club. There are fun and good things on TV, but I strongly believe that the TV is pacifying us. I don't even know how to be creative anymore and also become bored really easily. I have spent alot of my life in front of the TV, which I feel is time wasted. I am still guilty of going on-line to watch TV. Stupid internet!
Anyways, just so you know K and I will still come over and hang out even if you get rid of your cable. ;)
