Seriously?

Ashley: I came up with a new game this week -- hit "random article" in wikipedia and, by only clicking links (and never the back button!), get to the "sociolinguistics" page.

Ashley: The average is 6 links.

She's crazy, but I love her anyway :)

::edit::

Wesley: I played the game... but i had no idea how to get to sociolinguistics.

Wesley:
So I played -- how to get to John Calvin.

Wesley: 5 clicks.

(Ok -- really -- who here is surprised?)

Ashley: Perfect! Of course, the target page can change.

Ashley: In fact, the less familiar you are with the target, the harder it will be to get to, for sure.

Wow... this is a full-fledged game, complete with rules and strategy. Friends, put your game face on. Who/what's your target, and how many clicks did it take you to get there?

And yes, I really did average my results. I'm a social scientist - we can make an experiment out of anything!

well I played the game with Venezuela and my average is 3.6. I used the find tool in my browser, so I don't know if that's cheating or not. Vzla is kind of easy cuz all you have to do is click spanish or latin america, and they appear pretty often.

I need some clarification... Is the goal to get to another Wiki page? In other words, if my goal was (to use Wes' example) John Calvin, do I have to get to John Calvin's Wiki page or can I navigate away from Wiki using the common "External Links" section at the bottom of a page and end up at a different John Calvin page somewhere on the worldwide web?

This decision/clarification could change things and really determine the future of this game. Choose wisely.

I'll submit to whatever rules to council decides upon.

I understand the advantage to being able to navigate outside wikipedia, but since the "external links" would only be possible for the final click -- unless you wanted to risk finding links on other pages -- then it seems a bit silly to include them.

Besides, it would ruin the purity of the game!
