Buyer, Beware

Just a quick blog to warn my faithful readers about Fieldcrest towels.

My good friend Jenn bought me a few of these as a wedding gift, and I was genuinely surprised with how well she had matched my taste. They are beautiful, and they match my bathroom perfectly. I bought several more, including some white ones. Besides being pretty, they're also incredibly thick and soft.

But with a title like "Buyer, Beware," you had to know the bad news was coming sooner or later. Only a few months after I began using the brown towels, a few of them developed spots on them that looked like bleach spots--even though I rarely use bleach. I had a small pity party, blamed it on my detergent and went along my way. However, it wasn't long before ALL of my brown towels looked like they had been soaked in bleach. Huge, ugly, bright orange spots stained all of my towels! How awful! I began thinking that it might not be my fault, so I logged on to Target.com to look at product reviews. Sure enough, my hunch was right: 13 out of 15 product reviews for these very towels proved that it was not my fault. Everyone was having this problem with the Fieldcrest brand--even with other colors and other designs.

I promptly returned all of the towels and got my money back. I did keep the white ones, as I assume the problem was in the dye that was used to color the towels (the white ones have done just fine). I posted a similiar review on Target.com (really--if you buy products from Target, you should both look at and leave reviews--they're so helpful!) and emailed the company to let them know of the obvious product flaw. (Who knows if it will do any good, but at least I did my part!)

And... that's all I've got for you. Sorry for the lack of an inspiring/exciting post, but hopefully it will come in handy the next time you go towel shopping!

Okay, give me a break...I can barely check my email regularly and I never know what day of the week it is anymore. Today when singing the "Goodbye Song" in kindergarten I said "see you next Monday" and the aide corrected me...it's Tuesday. The only updating I do is lesson plans these days. :-( But I will try to update soon. And your post about the towels was quite entertaining...as well as Karen Sue's typical response to the china dilemma.

Love you.
